Joel Tan
Founder & Managing Director

Joel is a long-time effective altruist, having been a member of Giving What We Can since almost a decade ago. Previously a policy officer in the Singapore government, he subsequently worked as a private sector consultant specializing in political, economic and policy research, before leaving to found CEARCH in 2022.

A graduate from the University of Oxford, where he read Philosophy, Politics & Economies, Joel completed his thesis on meta-ethics – specifically, on grounding objective value in non-instrumental desire.
